A personal trainer, Coach or Instructor helps you define your fitness goals. The Coach takes into account your current fitness level and discusses what you want to achieve through your exercises. While you may have some big idea of the goals you want to achieve, a coach is able to help you break them down into smaller achievable goals that are specific and realistic.
The coach also helps assess your progress toward those goals.
Often immature athletes shy away from equipment in the gym because they are afraid of hurting themselves.
Likewise, one may stop going to the gym due to an injury. Instructors will teach you how to use equipment properly so that you do not hurt yourself. Trainers will also work with you to prevent severe injuries by helping you increase your balance, flexibility, and core strength.
Coaches are able to focus on specific workouts that will benefit you based on your activities of daily living. And in the chance that you have suffered an injury, trainers are able to work with you to safely workout, keep your range of motion, and get your strength back. A Coach will not let you use an injury as an excuse to not exercise!!
Whether you plan on committing to a coach for a while or feel as if you can take what you learned and go with it elsewhere, staying motivated is what makes the huge difference. Coaches see fighters come and go.
If you can’t afford a full time Instructor, take what you learned during your time with one and apply it at the gym, or at home, and keep it going. Once working out becomes a regular routine it will become easier to maintain. Treat it like a career, as if it’s something that is necessary for you to do, because it is, and your health is the most important thing in life.
